If you are considering holding a nice party, one nice type of party to throw is an appetizer party. These are fun gatherings that do not really take as much work as some other types of parties that include a full course dinner. What makes these parties fun is all the great appetizers that you can make and serve. You can use many different ingredients and combinations, since people are more willing to try new items when they are served in small bites. If you have never thrown one of these parties, here are some helpful tips that will ensure your party is a huge success.

Use Simple and Classy Decorations

First, you will want to make sure that you use simple and classy decorations for this type of a gathering. Since everything is about the appetizer, you will really want to pay attention to the presentation of everything. Use trays and serving dishes that are eye-catching, such as silver, copper, or glass. Cake stands or boxes can help you to vary the height of your food dishes, adding some visual interest as well. The food is the main event, so keep decorations simple. Fresh flowers or a few candles on the tables will be the perfect classy options for decorating.

Organization is Key

For this type of a party, organization is definitely going to be key. It is a good idea to go with appetizer party recipes that you can make ahead of time so you can get everything ready on time. Of course, there will still be a few last minute things to do for preparation and cooking, but usually this involves throwing a few things into the oven. Ensure that you have plenty of platters and serving utensils on hand as well. It is a good idea to set them up the day before you will be having the gathering. Label the trays as well so you know what appetizers go on which tray. You want to enjoy yourself, so try to do as much as possible ahead of time.

Include a Variety of Tastes and Textures

It is definitely important that you include a variety of tastes and textures when you are throwing an appetizer party. Try to come up with recipes for cold and hot foods alike. Choose flavors that are sweet and some that are savory as well. Have some crisp textures along with some softer foods. Keeping a nice balance is going to make this gathering a success. Keep this in mind when you are choosing the drinks for the party as well. Do not go with drinks that will overpower your food.

If you are looking for a few great dishes for this gathering, sweet and sour meatballs are a great option to make. They are fast, easy, and tasty to make. They can be made in your slow cooker as well.
